Tom was born in Bermondsey in 1946 and was brought up in the ghettos of post-war South East London. During the Sixties Tom joined the underground hippy movement of the capital and was influenced by the psychedelic art of the time. An artist of particular inspiration was John Hurford, and Tom had the pleasure of living with him and his family at Wixon Cottage, Chulmleigh in Devon from the late Sixties.
In 1972, Tom applied to study at Torquay College of Graphic Art, but was rejected over fears his long hair would be a bad influence on other students.
A few years later Tom applied to Exeter College and was instantly accepted at interview.
Having gained a B.A. Hons in Fine Art, Tom lived in Devon for 32 years. He now lives in Bournemouth, Dorset and draws his inspiration from nature and Star Trek.
